Thank you for posting this video of Congressman Poe's address to the Sabine Chapter. Looks like a successful meeting! It's great when Members of Congress have an opportunity to visit with their credit union constituents in-district. In light of the current economic issues it's safe to say that the financial services industry, credit unions included, will be under increased regulatory pressure in 2009. It will be important for all of us in the credit union world to stay in touch with our elected officials so they know that we are paying attention, and involved in the process.

Hi Jim... it was very good to see the political backing for the CU movement. Now... more than ever... I feel that CUs have a duty to inform their members about the importance of being politically active and electing "CU friendly" officials. It is then the member’s responsibility to do something about it. I believe it is fair to say that while banks have big money lobbying in DC, credit unions truly have a grass roots movement that can organize in ways that banks only dream of. I will be doing a follow post reminding CUs of this and some good resources.
