We Want to CU Grow
CU Grow is a credit union blog focused on innovation, communication and collaboration. It was started to help start the conversation between credit union leaders. Too often, information is not easily shared and communicated and great information and ideas get lost. The goal of CU Grow is to break down communication barriers and help move the CU industry forward.
Humble Beginnings
Originally founded in the spring of 2008 on a napkin at a Starbucks in Pasadena, TX, CU Grow, was the basis for a marketing campaign to help promote the Southwest CUNA Management School Alumni Mixer sponsored by the SCMS Class of 2009.
Natasha Melugin with the Texas Credit Union League approached James Robert Lay with PTP NEW MEDIA, a credit union web marketing company. Together, they both had a vision to create a communication and collaboration resource that could be used by all credit union leaders throughout the United States.
Starting small, the campaign was a huge success and Southwest CUNA Management School Alumni got involved and helped spread the word about the "invitation to innovation web site". Within only a few weeks, over 30 credit union leaders answered and shared their ideas for growth. It was time for CU Grow... to grow.
CU Grow… Grows
James Robert then took the lead and became the driving force behind CU Grow along with Janine McBee. CU Grow helped Janine enter the social the media world through blog writing and Twitter.
With the help of his brother, Jonathan Lay, CU Grow begin working with credit unions conferences. From conducting interviews with breakout session speakers to live blogging and Twittering from the back of the room, CU Grow continues to grow to be an interactive educational resource for credit union leaders.
Today, CU Grow has welcomed many new players and guest authors all participating through innovation, communication and collaboration.
CU Grow in The Future
The next step for CU Grow is to continue to grow through innovation, communication and collaboration resource as a credit union blog. We invite you to jump in and join the conversation. Feel free to shout back and share your ideas of how you and others can grow the credit union movement.
We also invite you to join CU Grow as an author. It is through innovation, communication and collaboration that we will all grow together.
In summary, with credit to Seth Godin, "the function of the blog is to be a standard bearer, the north star that tribe members can point to as a place to meet or for ideas to circle around. The blog isn't about the writer, it's about the readers".
